The Health Care Foundation is pleased to announce our 2021 grant awards totaling $296,758 to the following community recipients and programs.

  • Community House on Broadway received a $40,000 Challenge Grant Award. The funds will be used to:
    • Renovate and expand the Community House dining room, allowing more residents to participate in meals
    • Purchase and install a washer and dryer for resident use, and
    • Build an ADA bathroom on the ground floor of the shelter.

  • Community Home Health and Hospice received a $20,000 Challenge Grant Award. These funds will support Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Scholarships for CNA Training to provide medical care for clients living in Cowlitz County.   • Cowlitz Free Clinic Grant Awards totaling $100,000. These funds will:
    • Support operations of the Cowlitz Denture Dental Program, urgent medical care and the remodel of their new facility located at 945 Washington Way. For more information about the Cowlitz Free Clinic: https://www.chpwa.org/

  • CORE Health received a $2,304.00 Award to provide YMCA memberships to clients improve heath and build life-long healthy habits. For More information about Core Health: https://www.corehealthservices.org/

  • Cowlitz County Chaplaincy received a $13,000 Award to provide training, implementation and maintenance of a peer support program to deliver continuous on-demand resources to support the health and wellness of the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s deputies and their staff.   • FISH of Cowlitz County received a $19,000 Award to assist needy community members to pay for emergency prescriptions, dental care and some medical services. For more information about Fish of Cowlitz County: https://fishofcowlitzcounty.org

  • Hello Life Eating Disorder Recovery Services received a $10,000 Award to fund a professional eating disorder expert to lead support groups to clients with eating disorders in Cowlitz County. For more information about Hello Life: https://helloliferecovery.org/

  • Lifeworks received a $30,000 Award to help fund the purchase of a vehicle to provide health care access for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community. For more information about Lifeworks: https://www.lifeworkswa.org/

  • Love Overwhelming received a $20,000 Award to support the Cowlitz County Severe Weather Shelter, a partnership between Love Overwhelming and the Kelso/Longview Ministerial Association. For more information about Love Overwhelming: http://loveoverwhelming.org/

  • Lower Columbia Community Action Program, CAP received a $3,353.80 Award to purchase Electrostatic Foggers and sanitizing solution to sanitize public spaces and protect the public from transmitting COVID 19.   • Lower Columbia School Gardens received a $20,000 Challenge Grant Award. These funds will:
    • Help fund a new school garden at Lexington Elementary School including raised beds, a garden shed and tools,
    • Expand the food distribution program.

  • Neighborhood Resource Council received a $19,100 Award to fund a Social Media & Publications Development Specialist position and develop a website
