For Immediate Release

The Health Care Foundation’s mission is to promote the physical and mental health of the people living within our community.  Every year the board of director’s awards grants to local non-profit agencies who provide needed services.  We are proud to announce our 2017 grant awards totaling $225,324.00 to the following recipients and programs.

  • 1414 Club, Longview, WA:  $13.000 to provide needed maintenance, furnishing and upgrades to their facility.  The organization serves our community seven days a week providing meeting spaces to Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous

  • Children’s Discovery Museum:  $5,000 for development of a hands on “Health & Wellness” exhibit and to provide upgrades to the “Health Foods Market” exhibit.

  • Children’s Justice & Advocacy Center:   $14,250. to fund the purchase and installation of Forensic Recording Equipment needed to adequately support the forensic interview process.

  • Cowlitz Free Clinic:   $60,000.00 to support operations of the Cowlitz Free Medical Clinic, which provides urgent medical care and short term management of chronic care to uninsured adults in the Cowlitz County area.

  • Community House on Broadway:  $1,354. for the purchase of an AED (automated external defibrillator).

  • Emergency Support Shelter:  $25,000. to assist with the purchase of a van to transport clients with transportation barriers.

  • FISH of Cowlitz County:   $65,000.00 to assist needy community members to pay for emergency prescriptions, dental care and some medical services.

  • Life Works:   $3,500. to help purchase equipment needed to train staff to ensure the health, well-being and safety of clients and staff.

  • Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation of Cowlitz County:  $10,000. to provide vision and hearing care for low-income and homeless people in our community.

  • Lower Columbia School Gardens:  $26,470. to assist with the purchase of a truck/trailer and help build a new school gardens at Barnes Elementary School.
