For Immediate Release

This year the Board of Directors of The Health Care Foundation is pleased to announce awards of grants totaling $343,322.00 to the following recipients and programs.

  • Children’s Community Resources: $9,000.00 in funding to provide support for children and families facing catastrophic medical events.
  • Castle Rock CARE Coalition: $6,000.00 in funding to build a Community Garden including a cold frame greenhouse. Teaching families how to grow their own vegetables and community events will be a part of this project.
  • DAPC, Drug Abuse Prevention Center: $14,400.00 in funding is awarded provide support to the Phoenix House, which provides housing and support for high risk substance abusing women and their children. The families are; given the opportunity to develop skills necessary to become successful in society.
  • Emergency Support Shelter: $50,000.00 in funding is awarded to assist in the purchase and remodeling of a new building which will allow ESS to house and support more clients.
  • FISH of Cowlitz County: $85,000.00 is awarded to assist needy community members pay for emergency prescriptions, dental care and some medical services.
  • Community Health Partners: $50,000.00 to fund operations of the Cowlitz Free Medical Clinic which provides urgent medical care and short term management of chronic care to uninsured adults in the Cowlitz County area.
  • Life Works: $3,362.00 in funding to install a DAD Compliant Power Door Operator for the building’s entrance. The Power Door Operator will enable people to enter the facility easily and increase safety.
  • Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation of Cowlitz County: $10,000 to provide eye and hearing care for low income and homeless people in our community.
  • Lower Columbia School Gardens: $10,000.00 is awarded to help build a new school garden at Butler Acres Elementary School and support science and cooking classes in Kelso and Longview Schools.
  • Youth & Family LINK: $5,560.00 is awarded to support the Link Buddy Club, collaboration between Youth & Family LINK and ARC of Cowlitz County to provide access to physical activity for children with physical, mental and developmental disabilities.

The Health Care Foundation is a local organization, founded to perpetuate the community’s investment in the Monticello Medical Center. Our mission is to promote the physical and mental health care of the people in our community. From its inception over 30 years ago over 11 million dollars have been distributed to local health care organizations.
