This year the Board of Directors of The Health Care Foundation is pleased to announce awards of grants totaling $ 215,164.00to the following recipients and programs.

  • Children’s Community Resources: $14,000.00 in funding to provide support for two separate programs: the first is to support to children and families facing catastrophic medical events and the second program will help fund basic unmet medical needs for school children including eyeglasses, medical co-pays and wheelchair rental.
  • Cowlitz County Legal Aid: $11,500 in funding to hire a licensed attorney to help Military Veterans overcome barriers to obtaining and using medical benefits through the Veterans Administration.
  • Family Health Center: $16,584.00 in funding is awarded to equip 3 exam rooms at the Family Health Center’s Kelso Clinic location. The facility opened March 1, 2013 and operates with 3 medical providers, 2 behavioral health providers and one community health worker.
  • FISH of Cowlitz County: $85,000.00 is awarded to assist needy community members pay for emergency prescriptions, dental care and some medical services.
  • Community Health Partners: $30,000.00 to fund operations of the Cowlitz Free Medical Clinic which provides urgent medical care and short term management of chronic care to uninsured adults in the Cowlitz County area.
  • Highlands Neighborhood Association: $23,500 in funding to assist the Highlands Neighborhood Association purchase property in the center of their neighborhood, allowing them to expand their community center.
  • Life Works: $21,600 in funding to purchase 12 automated external defibrillators. The automated external defibrillators will be located at qualified schools or non-profits in our community. Training and monitoring will also be provided.
  • Lower Columbia School Gardens: $10,000.00 is awarded to help build a new 7000 square foot garden at Huntington Middle School in Kelso.

The Health Care Foundation is a local organization, founded to perpetuate the community’s investment in the Monticello Medical Center.  Our mission is to promote the physical and mental health care of the people in our community.  From its inception over 29 years ago over 11 million dollars have been distributed to local health care organizations.
